Bhubaneswar: At the Pelican Golf Club in Florida, history met promise as Kai Trump, granddaughter of former U.S. President Donald Trump, teed off for her first-ever LPGA Tour appearance. And among those watching closely was golf icon Annika Sörenstam, who had nothing but encouragement for the 18-year-old debutant.
Sörenstam, one of the most respected figures in women’s golf, praised Kai’s poise under pressure, saying, “I don’t think anybody here is thinking that she will be the one holding the trophy on Sunday. But that’s not the point. Just make the most out of this week. There will be lessons learned — take them to the future and grow.”
The 10-time major champion highlighted the importance of mindset and patience for young players entering the professional circuit. “She must be super tough on the inside,” Sörenstam added. “Give this girl a chance, right?”
