Shift from freedom to structure
Under former manager Carlo Ancelotti, Vinicius had complete freedom to express himself and often served as the creative core of Real Madrid’s attack. Under Xabi Alonso, he operates in a more disciplined, structured system — one the new coach believes is essential for consistency.
The Brazilian feels that his influence has diminished, that he is no longer “untouchable.” Alonso, however, is determined to maintain authority, having already shown his willingness to bench big names. Although Madrid want to extend his contract until 2030, the player has paused negotiations, believing he has not been adequately supported amid media criticism and refereeing controversies.
