Only 3.4 overs were possible in the third T20 at Eden Park, Auckland, with New Zealand reaching 38-1 before the match was abandoned due to rain. This gave Harry Brook’s side a 1-0 series victory.

Rain forces early end to match

Severe weather affected flights and left thousands of people without power in New Zealand. Despite repeated attempts to restart, the match could not continue, with Tim Seifert hitting 23 not out from 11 balls and Brydon Carse taking a key wicket.

Brook secures first overseas series win

England had already won the second T20 by 65 runs. The series victory marked Harry Brook’s first overseas series win as white-ball captain, continuing England’s strong form with seven wins in eight completed T20s since he took charge.

ODI series and Ashes loom

England will next play a three-match ODI series against New Zealand starting Sunday. Ashes players Joe Root, Ben Duckett, Jofra Archer, and Jamie Smith will join the squad, though Archer will miss the first ODI as his workload is managed. The upcoming Ashes series begins next month.
