Guehi Set To Leave Palace Next Year, Confirms Glasner

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed that captain Marc Guehi plans to leave the club next year after turning down a new contract offer. The 25-year-old England defender’s current deal runs out at the end of this season.

Guehi rejects new deal
Glasner revealed that the club had made efforts to keep Guehi but the defender expressed a desire to move on. “They offered Marc a new contract, but he said, ‘No, I want to make something different,’ and that’s normal,” Glasner said.

Palace could now look to sell Guehi in the January transfer window rather than risk losing him on a free transfer next summer. “It’s about finding the best way for everyone and how we handle this situation together,” Glasner added.

Liverpool move collapsed in summer
Guehi came close to joining Liverpool in the last transfer window after passing a medical ahead of a £35 million move. However, the deal collapsed on deadline day when Palace failed to secure Brighton defender Igor Julio as a replacement.

Interest from top European clubs
Reports suggest that Liverpool could revive their interest in January, but they may face competition from Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich. Guehi has made 167 appearances for Palace since joining from Chelsea in 2021 and has featured in all 12 games this season, helping the club to sixth in the Premier League.

Focus remains on England dream
The defender won his 26th England cap in this month’s 3-0 friendly win over Wales. He said there was still “definitely an opportunity” to make the 2026 World Cup squad even if he stays at Palace for the remainder of the season.
