Sindhu Battles Back to Advance at World Championships

Paris, France – PV Sindhu showed her resilience once again at the 2025 BWF World Championships held at the Adidas Arena in Paris. In a thrilling second-round match, Sindhu fought back from a daunting 12-18 deficit in the first game to defeat Malaysia’s Letshanaa Karupathevan 21-19, 21-15. The former world champion, who had a tough start and was pushed hard in the opener, displayed unwavering composure to claw her way back and eventually take control of the match. Sindhu will next face the formidable Chinese second seed Wang Zhi Yi as she continues her quest for a sixth World Championship medal.

Earlier, Sindhu had narrowly escaped a scare in the opening round against Bulgaria’s Kaloyana Nalbantova, edging out the young Bulgarian 23-21, 21-6. Despite moments of inconsistency in 2025, Sindhu’s tactical adjustments and fighting spirit highlighted her determination to extend her legacy on the global stage. Her coach Irwansyah’s influence in rallying her back was evident as Sindhu managed to stay calm under pressure, reaffirming her status as one of badminton’s most enduring champions .
