YouTube sensation Brad Dalke has expressed his delight at the huge fan support during his debut on the DP World Tour at the BMW International Open in Munich.
The 28-year-old American, known for his engaging online golf content, started the third round just two shots off the lead but carded a disappointing three-over 75, dropping him seven strokes behind the co-leaders. Yet the day was far from a disappointment for Dalke, who drew one of the largest galleries and capped his round with a birdie on the 18th hole to the delight of the crowd.
A Dream Come True on the Big Stage
“It was fun to birdie the last in front of the crowds,” Dalke said. “It’s crazy in my mind knowing I have never played a DP World Tour event and I might have the biggest group [of fans] out there, the biggest following out there. Big shoutout to the fans. YouTube golf has been growing a lot, and it’s shown with these crowds. I will try to finish strong.”
Dalke earned his spot in the tournament via a sponsor exemption. Once a highly promising amateur, he won the Junior PGA Championship in 2015, finished runner-up at the 2016 US Amateur, and helped Oklahoma claim the 2017 NCAA title. That same year, he competed in both the Masters and the US Open.
From Struggles to YouTube Success and Back
After turning professional in 2019, Dalke faced significant challenges, including well-publicized driver issues, loss of sponsorship, and a fading passion for the game. He pivoted to YouTube, joining the popular Good Good group, where he rediscovered his love for golf by focusing on fun and entertainment. The channel now boasts over 2.1 million subscribers.
Dalke recently announced he is stepping back from the channel to support his wife through health issues. Reflecting on his journey, he noted: “Before I was doing YouTube I was struggling and really did not love golf at times and put a lot of pressure on myself. Now I just have fun with it.”
He also highlighted the rising talent within YouTube golf, citing his own performance and that of Ryan Ruffels as proof that content creators can compete at a high level.
