Notts Outlaws retained top spot in the North Group after Olly Stone defended nine runs in a tense final over to seal a dramatic one-run victory over Lancashire at Trent Bridge.
After posting 181-6, the hosts looked under pressure as Lancashire stayed in the chase through Keaton Jennings and Liam Livingstone. However, Mohammed Ali conceded just two runs in the penultimate over before Stone held his nerve in the last.
Needing four off the final delivery, Jack Blatherwick and Matty Hurst managed only two, handing Notts a crucial victory. Lancashire’s fifth defeat leaves them third, six points behind second-placed Yorkshire.
Yorkshire chase 206
Yorkshire remained second in the North Group after completing a thrilling chase of 206 against Durham with one ball remaining at Headingley.
Alex Lees smashed 73 from 35 balls and Ben McKinney added 42 to help Durham post 205-9.
Jonny Bairstow responded with a blistering 66 from 36 deliveries before Moeen Ali struck 60 off just 32 balls, including seven sixes. Matthew Revis then finished the chase in style, launching Kasey Aldridge for six off the penultimate ball.
Despite the victory, Yorkshire stayed behind Notts on net run rate.
Essex dominate Sussex
Essex climbed to third in the South Group after crushing Sussex by 100 runs at Hove.
Michael Pepper scored 47 before Simon Harmer blasted 31 runs from Henry Crocombe’s final over to lift Essex to 204-6.
Sussex never recovered in reply as Sam Cook ripped through the batting line-up with outstanding figures of 4-7. The defeat was Sussex’s seventh of the campaign, leaving them fifth in the standings.
Worcestershire bowl out Kent
Worcestershire registered one of the most emphatic wins of the day by dismissing Kent for just 59 to claim an 83-run victory at New Road.
Captain Adam Hose top-scored with 47 as Worcestershire posted 142-7 after being asked to bat.
Kent’s chase quickly collapsed, with only two batters reaching double figures before they were bowled out in 14.1 overs.
The victory lifted Worcestershire to 20 points in the Central and West Group, where they trail the top two only on net run rate. Kent remain fourth in the South Group after missing the chance to move level on points with Essex and Surrey.
Glamorgan keep pace
Glamorgan also moved onto 20 points after defeating Warwickshire by seven wickets in Cardiff.
Sam Hain’s 63 and Beau Webster’s 47 guided Warwickshire to 184-4, but the hosts made light work of the chase.
Will Smale anchored the innings with 62, while Kiran Carlson helped establish a strong start during the powerplay. Asa Tribe and Sean Dickson then completed the chase with seven balls remaining.
Warwickshire slipped to a sixth defeat of the season and remain fifth in the Central and West Group with three matches left.
