After dropping the opening set, the 31-year-old responded in emphatic fashion, raising the intensity of her baseline game to turn the contest around. Keys eventually prevailed 3-6, 6-2, 6-3, extending her impressive run on grass after arriving at Wimbledon fresh from her Eastbourne title triumph.
Anisimova, last year’s Wimbledon runner-up, made a bright start by taking the first set with aggressive shot-making and confident serving.
