The Archery Association of India (AAI) has taken another significant step towards reinforcing its coaching setup by interviewing renowned South Korean coach Park Chae-soon for the position of recurve head coach.
Park is regarded as one of the most respected figures in world archery, having guided Olympic and World Championship medal-winning archers during his distinguished coaching career. His vast international experience makes him a strong contender as India prepares for a packed international calendar, including the Asian Games and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
The interview process reflects AAI’s intent to bring world-class expertise into the national programme and help Indian recurve archers consistently challenge the sport’s traditional powerhouses.
India has enjoyed encouraging success in compound archery in recent years, but recurve remains the Olympic discipline where sustained podium finishes have proved more elusive. Appointing an experienced foreign coach is expected to provide fresh technical insights, improve athlete preparation and enhance India’s medal prospects on the biggest stages.
AAI officials are expected to evaluate all candidates before taking a final decision on the appointment. The governing body believes a strong coaching structure will play a vital role in nurturing both established internationals and promising young archers.
If selected, Park’s arrival could mark a significant milestone in India’s long-term preparations as the country aims to establish itself among the world’s elite in Olympic recurve archery.
