Deco believes the current FC Barcelona squad is only at the beginning of its journey after securing a second consecutive La Liga title.
Barcelona sealed the championship earlier this month after defeating rivals Real Madrid, continuing the impressive rebuild under coach Hansi Flick.
Young stars driving Barcelona’s future
Deco praised the club’s emerging generation from La Masia, including Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi and Fermin Lopez, calling this squad “the beginning of the history of this team”.
According to the former Barcelona midfielder, the hunger within the dressing room remains strong despite already winning consecutive league titles.
He added that the squad’s quality and depth now mean Barcelona no longer need a major rebuild in the transfer market.
Rashford earns praise after loan spell
Marcus Rashford also received praise from Deco after spending the season on loan from Manchester United.
Although Rashford was not always a regular starter, the England forward contributed important goals and assists throughout the campaign, including a memorable free-kick in El Clasico.
Deco said the 28-year-old handled the pressure of replacing Raphinha very well and praised his professionalism despite competition for places.
Rashford finished the season with eight league goals and seven assists, while also contributing strongly in the Champions League.
Barcelona reportedly have the option to sign him permanently for around £30 million this summer.
