India’s growing pool of young sporting talent has found another promising name in archery as 12-year-old Aadhya Suman Devadiga continues to impress on the national circuit with a string of medal-winning performances.
The Mumbai-based archer, who only began training in September 2024, has already emerged as one of the standout performers in junior field archery. With consistent success across district, state and national competitions, Aadhya is now aiming to turn her early achievements into a long-term Olympic journey.
Rapid rise in Indian archery
Training under coach Vinayak Nair at Sagittarius Sports Club, Aadhya adapted quickly to competitive archery and built an impressive medal tally in a short span. During the 2024-25 season, she collected 22 medals and trophies across indoor and outdoor events, making her one of the most successful young archers in her category.
Her performances at the national level brought major recognition. At the National Indoor Championship 2024-25, Aadhya secured an individual gold medal and also helped her team clinch bronze. She later added a silver medal at the National E-Championship in the Under-14 girls category.
Strong showing at national competitions
Aadhya’s consistency continued in 2026 at the National Field Archery Competition in Alibaug, Maharashtra, where she won one gold, two silver and one bronze medal. Competing against some of the country’s best young archers, she displayed remarkable composure despite her age.
She also impressed at the 7th FAAI National E-Championship by winning two silver medals while competing in both the Under-14 and Under-17 divisions, proving her ability to challenge older opponents.
Gold Trophy caps memorable season
The highlight of her season came at the 12th National Field Archery Championship held in Palghar, Maharashtra, from May 16 to 19. Competing in the Cubs Girls category, Aadhya delivered a dominant performance to finish first overall and lift the prestigious Gold Trophy.
The achievement further strengthened her reputation as one of India’s brightest young field archery prospects.
Olympic ambition drives youngster
Originally from a Mangaluru-rooted family now settled in Mumbai, Aadhya balances academics with high-level sporting commitments while studying at Bombay Cambridge International School.
With multiple national medals already to her name before turning 13, the young archer has now set her sights on representing India at the 2028 Olympics, a dream that appears increasingly realistic given her rapid rise in the sport.
