Bangladesh national cricket team created history after defeating Pakistan national cricket team by 78 runs in the second Test at Sylhet to complete a memorable 2-0 clean sweep in the series.
The victory marked Bangladesh’s first-ever home Test series whitewash against Pakistan and their second consecutive 2-0 sweep over the visitors after winning in Pakistan back in 2024.
Chasing a massive target of 437 runs on the final day, Pakistan fought hard but were eventually bowled out for 358. Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam starred with the ball, claiming a superb six-wicket haul to seal the historic triumph for the hosts.
Bangladesh had earlier posted 278 in their first innings, powered by a brilliant 126 from wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das. Pakistan replied with 232 despite a fighting 68 from Babar Azam, handing Bangladesh a crucial first-innings lead.
In the second innings, Bangladesh strengthened their grip through a magnificent 137 from veteran Mushfiqur Rahim and a fluent 69 by Litton Das, setting Pakistan a daunting fourth-innings target.
Pakistan showed resistance through partnerships involving Shan Masood, Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha, but Bangladesh’s disciplined spin attack proved decisive in the end. Rizwan top-scored with 94 before falling at a crucial stage as Bangladesh wrapped up another landmark Test victory.
The series win also extended Bangladesh’s dominance over Pakistan in recent years, with the Tigers now winning four consecutive Test matches against their Asian rivals.
