Speculation over the future of Pep Guardiola has intensified after multiple reports claimed the legendary coach could announce his departure following Manchester City’s final Premier League game of the season against Aston Villa.
Guardiola, who joined City in 2016, has overseen one of the most dominant eras in English football. Under his leadership, the club has won multiple Premier League titles, domestic cups and the UEFA Champions League, transforming City into a global football powerhouse.
Although the Spaniard signed a contract extension in late 2024 that would keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2027, uncertainty around his long-term future has continued throughout the season. Reports suggest the 55-year-old may now be ready to step away after completing 10 years at the club.
According to reports, former City assistant and ex-Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has emerged as the frontrunner to replace Guardiola if the exit is confirmed.
Guardiola’s tenure has brought unprecedented success to Manchester City, including six Premier League titles and the club’s first-ever Champions League crown. City could still add another league title this season depending on results in the final round of fixtures.
Despite the growing reports, neither Manchester City nor Guardiola has officially confirmed the decision yet.
