The 74th edition of the Fit India Sundays on Cycle initiative drew enthusiastic participation from nearly 50,000 people across 5,000 locations nationwide, as the government’s fitness campaign continued to gather momentum.
Organised in collaboration with the GST and Customs Departments of the Government of India, the event featured a variety of recreational and fitness activities alongside the cycling drive, including yoga sessions, rope skipping and Zumba.
In New Delhi, the event took place at the iconic Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, where more than 800 participants from different age groups joined officers from the GST and Customs departments in promoting an active lifestyle.
A dedicated fun sports zone became one of the major attractions of the event, allowing participants to engage in activities such as badminton, chess, carrom and ludo. Several entertaining challenges, including lemon races, tug of war, squat challenges, push-up contests and ball games, also kept the crowd energized throughout the morning.
The cycling movement was launched by Mansukh Mandaviya in December 2024 with the aim of encouraging healthier lifestyles and fighting obesity through regular physical activity. Since its inception, the initiative has recorded participation from more than 32 lakh fitness enthusiasts across over 3 lakh locations in 74 editions.
Officials associated with the programme highlighted the importance of fitness and public health, while also underlining cycling’s role in reducing pollution and encouraging sustainable living.
