Pep Guardiola may not have fully revealed his future plans, but the Manchester City boss certainly dropped another intriguing hint before the FA Cup final.
Speaking ahead of City’s Wembley showdown against Chelsea F.C., Guardiola insisted there is “no way” Saturday’s match will be his final appearance at the famous stadium as Manchester City manager.
Then came the comment that immediately grabbed attention.
With a smile on his face, Guardiola joked that he still has “one more year” left on his contract before quickly leaving the press conference room.
Uncertainty Still Surrounds Guardiola
Despite Guardiola’s relaxed response, questions about his future refuse to disappear.
The 55-year-old has now spent a decade at Manchester City F.C., building one of the most dominant teams English football has ever seen.
Yet there remains growing speculation that he could step away from the club sooner rather than later.
While neither Guardiola nor City have officially confirmed plans beyond next season, reports continue linking former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca as a possible long-term successor.
A Decade Of Dominance
Guardiola’s numbers at City speak for themselves.
Since arriving in Manchester, he has won 19 trophies, including six Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League and multiple domestic cups.
City are also still chasing another remarkable double this season after already lifting the Carabao Cup with victory over Arsenal earlier this year.
Asked whether his spell at City represents greatness, Guardiola responded in typical fashion — flexing his arm and joking about his achievements.
“19 titles in 10 years is not bad,” he said with a grin.
Focus Turns To Wembley
For now, Guardiola’s immediate attention remains fixed on the FA Cup final.
City head into Wembley as favourites against a struggling Chelsea side, knowing another trophy would further strengthen Guardiola’s legendary status at the club.
At the same time, the Premier League title race is still alive, with City sitting just two points behind leaders Arsenal F.C. with two games left.
Whether Guardiola stays beyond next season or not, his impact on Manchester City — and English football — is already firmly secured.
But for supporters, one question still lingers: how much longer will the Guardiola era continue?
