Hockey India has announced a Senior Women’s National Coaching Camp from May 11 to May 20 as the Indian team intensifies preparations for a packed international calendar in 2026. The short but important camp will serve as a key build-up phase before the squad travels to Australia for an exposure tour ahead of the upcoming FIH Nations Cup in Auckland, New Zealand.
The camp comes at a crucial stage for the Indian women’s hockey setup, with several major tournaments lined up later this year. Apart from the FIH Nations Cup in June, the team is also preparing for the 2026 Women’s Hockey World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands, followed by the Asian Games in Japan later in September.
Chief coach Sjoerd Marijne is expected to focus heavily on fitness, tactical sharpness, and team combinations during the camp. The coaching staff wants the players to maintain consistency and improve key aspects of their gameplay before entering a highly competitive international season.
The national camp will feature a mix of experienced stars and emerging young talent. Veterans like Savita Punia, Salima Tete and Sushila Chanu are expected to guide the younger core as India aims to build momentum ahead of the Nations Cup.
The FIH Nations Cup carries extra significance this year because the tournament winner will directly qualify for the 2026-27 FIH Pro League, which itself offers a pathway toward qualification for the 2028 Summer Olympics.
