BK Häcken etched their name into European football history by becoming the first-ever winners of the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup. The Swedish side defeated domestic rivals Hammarby over two legs in a dramatic final that showcased the growing strength of women’s football in Sweden.
Teenage sensation Felicia Schröder emerged as the star of the final, scoring all four of Häcken’s goals across the two matches. Her performances proved decisive as Häcken secured a 4-2 aggregate victory and claimed a landmark European title.
The first leg in Stockholm saw Schröder score the only goal in a tense 1-0 away win before Häcken completed the job with a thrilling 3-2 victory in Gothenburg.
Coach Elena Sadiku praised her team’s resilience and belief after the historic success. The title marked Sweden’s first UEFA women’s club trophy since Umeå’s dominance in the early 2000s and highlighted the country’s continued influence in women’s football.
The triumph is also expected to boost confidence in the domestic Swedish women’s league, with UEFA calling the victory another major step forward for the women’s game in the country.
