CAIRO, Egypt :Vanshika Chaudhary and Chirag Sharma delivered a brilliant performance to win the 10m air pistol mixed team gold at the ISSF Junior World Cup Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun here on Saturday, helping India continue to top the medal table with a dominant showing.
The Indian pair fired a superb 484.3 in the four-team final, comfortably ahead of the Individual Neutral Athletes pairing of Aliaksandra Piatrova and Mikita Daubash, who scored 467.6 for silver.
Earlier in the morning qualifiers at the Olympic International City Shooting Range, Vanshika and Chirag topped the field of 14 teams with a strong 582, showcasing their consistency and precision. Their compatriots Mohini Singh and Himanshu Rana also impressed, finishing third in qualifying with 568 and later converting that into a bronze medal with 407.4 in the final.
For Vanshika, this gold marked her second top-podium finish of the tournament, having already won the individual women’s 10m air pistol title earlier in the week. Chirag also added to his medal haul, this being his second podium finish after a bronze in the junior men’s air pistol event.
Speaking after their triumph, Vanshika said, “We stayed focused throughout and supported each other — this win feels amazing for both of us and for India.” Chirag added, “The competition was tough, but we trusted our preparation and delivered when it mattered.”
With one competitive day still remaining, India’s overall medal haul stands impressively as they continue to set the pace atop the standings in Cairo.
