The Indian wrestling contingent wrapped up its campaign at the 2026 Senior Asian Wrestling Championships in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on a strong note, adding three more medals on the final day to finish with a total of 17 medals.
Final Day Highlights
On the concluding day of the championships, Olympic medallist Aman Sehrawat claimed a silver medal in the Men’s 61 kg freestyle category. He went down fighting 13-10 against Kwang Myong Kim of South Korea in a closely contested final.
In the Men’s 86 kg freestyle event, Mukul Dahiya also earned silver after losing 7-0 to two-time Asian champion Kamran Ghasempour of Iran.
Dinesh rounded off India’s campaign with a bronze medal in the 125 kg division, defeating Shamil Sharipov of Bahrain by a convincing 7-1 margin.
Overall Performance
India’s final medal tally stood at 2 gold, 6 silver, and 9 bronze. The Men’s freestyle team led the way with seven medals, while the Greco-Roman and women’s teams contributed five medals each.
This performance helped India secure second position in the overall team standings behind powerhouse Iran.
