The development comes after the fast bowler successfully cleared the mandatory Sri Lanka Cricket fitness test.
The decision means Pathirana joins Kolkata Knight Riders during IPL 2026 at a crucial stage for the team. According to reports, the pacer is expected to arrive in India around April 17 and link up with the Kolkata Knight Riders IPL squad ahead of their match schedule.
However, the pacer is likely to be available for selection only after the KKR medical team assesses his condition following his arrival.
Return after injury setback
