Kimi Antonelli continued his dream start to the season by winning the Japanese Grand Prix and becoming the youngest driver in history to lead the championship.
The 19-year-old secured back-to-back wins after a well-timed safety car helped him retain track position ahead of key rivals.
Safety car turns the race
The decisive moment came when Oliver Bearman crashed heavily, bringing out the safety car.
Antonelli, who had yet to pit, gained a crucial advantage as his stop cost significantly less time compared to others.
Rivals miss out
Oscar Piastri finished second, while Charles Leclerc took third.
George Russell dropped to fourth after being in contention earlier.
Championship impact
Antonelli now leads the standings, holding a nine-point advantage over Russell.
“It feels good, but it’s too early to think about the championship,” he said.
