India will host a major international archery tournament once again after a gap of more than two decades, with New Delhi selected to stage a leg of the Asia Cup Archery circuit in 2027. The event will mark the country’s return as a host for top-level international archery competitions for the first time since 2005.
The second stage of the 2027 Asia Cup will take place in the national capital and is expected to feature leading archers from across Asia competing in recurve and compound events. Officials believe the tournament will give Indian archers a valuable opportunity to compete at home against some of the continent’s best shooters.
Boost for Indian Archery
India has emerged as one of Asia’s strong archery nations in recent years, producing world-class performers such as Deepika Kumari and Jyothi Surekha Vennam. The country also enjoyed success at recent global events, including a gold medal in the men’s compound team event at the 2025 World Archery Championships, highlighting the rise of Indian archery on the international stage.
Hosting the Asia Cup stage is expected to further strengthen the sport’s popularity and provide local fans a chance to watch elite competition live.
Busy International Calendar
The Asia Cup is part of the continental circuit organised by World Archery Asia, featuring multiple stages across the region each season. The Delhi leg in 2027 will be one of the key stops on the tour and will bring together top archers aiming for rankings and international glory.
As one official noted about the upcoming event:
“Hosting an international tournament again is a big step for Indian archery and will inspire the next generation of archers.”
With Delhi preparing to welcome Asia’s finest marksmen, the bullseye is firmly back on India as a growing hub for international archery competitions.
