Reigning world champions Team GB strengthened their push for a Winter Olympics semi-final place with a composed victory over Germany in Cortina. Bruce Mouat’s rink now boast four wins from five round-robin matches, leaving them firmly on course for the last four.
Control After Tight Start The contest was level at 2-2 after three ends, but the British quartet gradually asserted control. Precision shot-making and sharp sweeping carried them into a 5-2 lead at the break, exposing small German errors and capitalising ruthlessly.
Seventh-End Steal Breaks Resistance The pivotal moment came in the seventh end when Mouat’s side stole two to stretch their advantage. Germany struggled to respond under pressure, and although they reduced the deficit, the outcome was effectively sealed.
Semi-Final Target In Sight Mouat calmly added another two in the ninth end to close out the win and edge closer to qualification. Six victories are expected to guarantee a semi-final berth at the Winter Olympics 2026.
The men return later on Sunday to face unbeaten Switzerland in a stern test of their medal credentials, while the GB women take on Sweden earlier in the day as they aim to reignite their own campaign.
