Inter Milan supporters have been banned from traveling to away matches until March 23 after a flare was thrown near Cremonese goalkeeper Emil Audero during a recent Serie A fixture.
Italian authorities confirmed the decision as part of stricter crowd-control measures aimed at maintaining safety inside stadiums. The flare landed close to Audero, briefly interrupting the match and sparking concerns over fan behavior and player security.
“The measure has been introduced to prevent further disorder and ensure public safety,” officials said, stressing zero tolerance for actions that threaten the integrity of the game.
As part of the ruling, ticket sales for Inter’s away matches against Sassuolo, Lecce, and Fiorentina will be blocked for residents of the Lombardy region. However, the March 8 Milan derby has been excluded from the ban since it does not involve traveling supporters.
Inter Milan, who currently sit eight points clear at the top of Serie A, condemned the incident, calling it irresponsible and damaging to the club’s reputation.
The episode serves as another reminder of how fan misconduct can impact clubs both on and off the pitch, even during a title-chasing season.
