West Ham United have signed winger Adama Traore from Fulham in a deal worth up to £2 million during the January transfer window.
Traore reunites with former manager
The 30-year-old moves across London to join head coach Nuno Espirito Santo, who previously worked with him at Wolves. The agreement includes an initial £1 million fee, rising to £2 million with performance-related add-ons, and runs until the end of the season with an option for a further year.
Traore has made only two Premier League starts for Fulham this season and was left out of their recent win over Brighton.
“I’m so happy to be here and help the team,” Traore said. “My mentality is always to improve and give my best every day.”
Limited role at Fulham this season
Since joining Fulham on a free transfer in 2023, Traore has struggled for regular minutes. His final appearance came in the FA Cup win against Middlesbrough on 10 January.
Despite being capped eight times by Spain, the winger found it difficult to cement his place in Marco Silva’s side this campaign.
West Ham’s active January window
West Ham have been among the busiest clubs in the winter transfer market. They have already signed Pablo Felipe from Gil Vicente for £20 million and Taty Castellanos from Lazio for £25.2 million.
The club is also negotiating the sale of Lucas Paqueta to Flamengo, while Guido Rodriguez, Luis Guilherme and Niclas Fullkrug have already departed.
Relegation battle adds urgency
The Hammers remain in the relegation zone with 20 points, five points from safety. Although they have won their last two league games, they still face 15 crucial matches.
Traore’s pace and experience are expected to play a key role as West Ham fight to secure Premier League survival.
