Liverpool : Mohamed Salah made a much-anticipated return to the Liverpool side in Saturday’s Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield. The Egyptian forward, who had not featured since expressing frustration about his role at the club, was named on the bench but came on in the 26th minute after defender Joe Gomez was forced off with an injury.
Salah’s last appearance had been in a previous league match before he was omitted from Liverpool’s Champions League win over Inter Milan following a public comment in which he said he felt “thrown under the bus” by the club and manager Arne Slot.
The 33-year-old was greeted with loud applause from the Anfield crowd as he entered the game, marking his first action for the Reds in weeks amid ongoing speculation about his future at the club.
This match against Brighton is expected to be Salah’s final appearance for Liverpool before he joins the Egypt squad for the Africa Cup of Nations, adding further uncertainty about his long-term future with the club.
His return brought energy to the attack and delighted the fans, underlining his importance to Liverpool even as transfer rumours swirl and his role in the team continues to be debated.
