A Bold New Frontier for World Cricket
In a major step toward expanding cricket beyond its traditional strongholds, the Pro10 League—co-founded by former India coach Ravi Shastri and sports entrepreneur Neeraj Sareen—has announced its international launch scheduled for January 30 to February 4, 2026.
The inaugural edition, to be staged at Thailand’s state-of-the-art Terd Thai Cricket Ground, will feature five franchise teams and a star-studded lineup including David Warner, Chris Lynn, and George Munsey. Adding to the league’s stature, West Indies legend Sir Viv Richards has been named the Pro10 Thailand Ambassador.
Taking Cricket to Non-Traditional Regions
More than just another T10 competition, Pro10 is being positioned as a development-first, market-expansion initiative. The league aims to establish a sustained cricketing ecosystem in Thailand, Bulgaria, and Poland, regions where professional structures remain limited.
By pairing local players with seasoned international stars and coaches, Pro10 hopes to accelerate grassroots growth and give emerging talent exposure that has long remained out of reach.
“Cricket grows strongest when it reaches new people and communities,” said Sir Viv Richards.
“Pro10 is giving Thailand, Bulgaria and Poland a platform to shine. This is how the game expands, and this is where the future lies.”
The Vision: Sustainable, Fast-Paced, Global Cricket
Ravi Shastri believes the Pro10 model captures exactly what modern cricket needs—speed, accessibility, and development rolled into one.
“Pro10 represents cricket’s next evolution,” Shastri said.
“It delivers explosive T10 action while building real grassroots structures. With stars like Warner and support from legends like Sir Viv, we’re showcasing the game’s global potential.”
Neeraj Sareen emphasised that Pro10 is built not as a short-term league but as a long-term sports ecosystem shaped in partnership with local boards and communities.
“We’re creating something meaningful for emerging regions,” Sareen noted.
“With Ravi’s cricketing expertise and the operational strength of Roshan Mahanama and Aaron Vedhasinghe, Pro10 is designed to last.”
A Launchpad for the Next Generation
One of the league’s biggest draws is the opportunity it provides for local talent in Thailand, Bulgaria and Poland to compete alongside elite professionals. For nations that lack regular access to international-standard cricket, this exposure could be transformative.
Coaches, mentors, match environments and training systems are expected to follow a professional franchise model—something rarely seen in Europe’s second-tier cricketing nations.
Conclusion: A Global Cricket Experiment Worth Watching
As cricket looks to broaden its footprint, the Pro10 League emerges as one of the most ambitious expansion efforts of recent years. With the pedigree of Shastri, the charisma of Sir Viv, and a roster filled with global stars, the initiative carries both credibility and excitement.
If successful, Pro10 could become a blueprint for how cricket enters new frontiers—fast, engaging, community-driven and truly global.
