Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn faced off for the final time before their highly anticipated rematch on Saturday. At Friday’s ceremonial weigh-in in Bethnal Green’s iconic York Hall, Eubank appeared calm and focused, while Benn, who lost to Eubank in April, exuded a fiery determination.
“Everything is on track for a Chris Eubank Jr knockout win,” Eubank said. “The first fight was a fight of the year contender. This fight will be a fight of the decade contender.”
Weigh-In Drama and Rehydration Clause
Official weigh-ins took place behind closed doors Friday morning, with both fighters tipping the scales at 11st 5lb (72kg). Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn revealed Benn was slightly heavier at 11st 13lb (76kg), with Eubank two pounds lighter. Both fighters are restricted by a rehydration clause, limiting them to 12st 1lb (77kg) on fight morning to ensure a level playing field.
The weight disparity has been a talking point, with Benn moving up two divisions for this bout. Eubank typically gains around 14lb after weigh-ins, giving fans insight into the physical dynamics ahead of fight night.
Redemption is the Goal
Benn, visibly charged, reflected on his April defeat: “I was too fiery then. Redemption is all that matters. I’m excited to get in there and do the business.” He emphasized his focus on the fight rather than his opponent, promising fans a memorable showdown.
The ceremonial weigh-in drew a huge crowd, standing room only with queues around the block, dispelling concerns about ticket sales. Eubank maintained control of the proceedings, keeping Benn waiting for a few moments before the official stage appearance. Despite lingering hostility, mutual respect has grown since their first encounter.
Build-Up with Less Drama, Same Tension
Unlike earlier in the year, this fight week has seen fewer dramatic incidents. There were no pranks or weigh-in controversies, but the intensity between the two fighters remains palpable. Fans can expect a high-stakes, hard-hitting rematch that balances rivalry with respect.
