Alyssa Healy, the Australian women’s cricket team captain and opener, made her presence felt with the bat in Match 17 of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 against Bangladesh in Vizag. Healy was at her sublime best and made merry with a solid century. She helped Australia chase down a 199-run target inside 25 overs. Healy ended up scoring a rapid 113* off 77 balls. Phoebe Litchfield (84*) provided able support as Australia scored 202/0, winning the contest by 10 wickets.
Notably, Healy got to her ton from just 73 balls. This is now the 2nd-fastest hundred in the ICC Women’s World Cup (by balls).
A magnificent knock, a rapid chase and partnership feat
Healy was simply outstanding from the beginning and was in attack mode. She never allowed the Bangladesh bowlers to settle down. The pitch aided batting and Healy alongside Litchfield made use of the conditions. They played their shots and dictated the tempo of the game. With not many runs needed to chase, Healy took the upper hand and raced away to a 73-ball hundred. She ended up with a knock of 113*, hitting 20 fours. On the other hand, Litchfield’s 84* was laced with 12 fours and a six.
The pair’s 202*-run stand is now the 3rd-highest opening stand for Australia Women in World Cups. Healy and Litchfield also helped Australia chase down their 2nd-highest target without losing a wicket.
