Alyssa Healy etched her name in history books of the ICC Women’s World Cup by becoming the first player with consecutive hundreds across two different campaigns. Healy, the Australian women’s cricket team captain and opener, made her presence felt with the bat in Match 17 of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 against Bangladesh in Vizag. Healy was at her utmost best and hit a solid century.
Interestingly, she helped Australia Women chase down a 199-run target inside 25 overs. Healy ended up scoring a sensational 113* off 77 balls. Her opening partner Phoebe Litchfield (84*) provided able support as Australia scored 202/0, winning the contest by 10 wickets.
Notably, Healy, who brought up her 7th Women’s ODI hundred and surpassed 3500 runs, ended up smashing the 2nd-fastest World Cup century (by balls). She got to her ton off 73 balls.
Successive centuries for Healy in ICC Women’s World Cup 2025
This was Healy’s 2nd successive ton in the 2025 World Cup. She had hit a knock of 142 against India last Sunday. Chasing a target of 331 in Vizag, Healy’s brilliant knock of 142 from from just 107 balls helped her side win the contest by three wickets. She hit 21 fours and three sixes against India.
And now, she registered another solid century, hitting 20 fours along the way during her stay at the crease.
Healy also managed successive hundreds in Women’s World Cup 2022
During the ICC Women’s World Cup in 2022, Healy had hit 2 consecutive tons, becoming the 2nd batter in the history of the tournament to do so. Her first World Cup hundred came against West Indies in the 1st semi-final. She helped Australia score 305/3, managing a knock of 129. In response, WI Women perished for a score of 148.
Her 2nd hundred came in the 2022 World Cup final. Her majestic 170-run knock helped Australia manage 356/5. She hit 26 fours in that match. Australia then bowled England out for 285 to win the prestigious title.
Debbie Hockley was the first to do so
Former New Zealand batter Debbie Hockley became the 1st batter to hammer successive hundreds in the Women’s World Cup. She did so in the 1997 event, hammering knocks worth 100* and 100. Her first was against Sri Lanka in Chandigarh. Hockley then followed it up with a knock of 100 against West Indies.
