World Cup: Listing Smriti Mandhana’s records in IND-AUS match

Smriti Mandhana completed 1000 runs against ENG-W

Smriti Mandhana broke records and etched her name in history books during Match 13 of the ICC Women’s World Cup contest between India and Australia in Vizag. She scored a fine 80-run knock and added 155 runs alongside Pratika Rawal for the opening wicket.

However, India ended on a losing note. Despite scoring 330 runs, Australia chased the score with an over to spare. Alyssa Healy’s majestic century helped Australia down India.

Mandhana coming back to form after three low scores in India’s 1st three games of the tournament was a positive. Here we present the list of records made by Mandhana in this contest.

2nd Indian to hit 5000 runs in WODIs

Mandhana scored 80 runs from from 66 balls, hitting nine 4s and three sixes. With her 58th run of the contest, she completed 5000 runs, becoming the 2nd Indian to do so. Mithali Raj is the only other Indian batter to smash 5000 runs in Women’s ODIs. Raj scored 7805 runs from 232 matches.

Fastest to 5000 runs in Women’s ODIs (by innings)

Mandhana is now the fastest to 5000 runs in Women’s ODIs. She achieved the milestone in her 112th match (112 innings). She broke the record of Stafanie Taylor, who took 129 innings to reach the milestone. New Zealand’s Suzie Bates is next on this list, having taken 136 innings. 

First batter with 5 successive fifty-plus scores against AUS-W 

With this knock of 80, Mandhana became the 1st batter in Women’s ODIs to hit 5 successive fifty-plus scores against AUS-W. Her scores in the last 5 WODIs against Australia are: 105 (109), 58 (63), 117 (91), 125 (63), 80 (66). As per Cricbuzz, she is the only batter to register five consecutive 50-plus scores against Australia Women in ODIs.

Partnership records made by Mandhana alongside Rawal

Mandhana and Rawal stitched their 14th fifty-plus score in WODIs for India. This is now the the 2nd-most, bettering the 13 by Anjum Chopra & Mithali Raj (57 innings) and Mithali Raj & Punam Raut (34 innings).  18 fifty-plus stands by Harmanpreet Kaur & Mithali Raj (56 innings) remains the best.

This was the pair’s 4th century-plus stand in WODIs this year. With this, they equalled Suzie Bates & Rachel Priest, who added 4 such stands for NZ-W in a calendar year (2015). Belinda Clark & Lisa Keightley (AUS-W, 2000) lead the list with 5 tons.

Mandhana and Rawal stitched their 6th 100-plus stand. They trail Mithali and Punam Raut in this regard (7) for any wicket.

Most 50-plus scores against Australia by an Indian

This was Mandhana’s 10th 50-plus score against Australia. It’s noiw the most by an Indian batter against the Aussie Women in ODIs. Mithali had the previous record (9).

1000 runs in a calendar year

Mandhana also crossed 1000 runs in a calendar year. She is now the first player to do so in WODIs. She has 1062 runs from 18 matches this year at 59 with 4 fifties and 4 tons, as per ESPNcricinfo.
