Motegi, Japan: Marc Márquez has reclaimed his throne at the pinnacle of motorcycle racing, clinching his seventh MotoGP world championship after a masterful display at the Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday. The Spanish rider’s achievement marks a remarkable turnaround in his career, ending a six-year wait since his last world title in 2019.
Riding for Ducati, Márquez sealed the championship with five rounds remaining, finishing second behind teammate Francesco Bagnaia. His result was enough to outscore his younger brother and closest title rival Alex Márquez, who finished sixth, giving Marc an unassailable lead in the overall standings.
“This title means everything. After all the pain, surgeries, and doubts, I never gave up,” Márquez said following the race. “Coming back and winning again feels like the best victory of my life.”
From Setbacks To Supremacy
The road to Márquez’s seventh crown has been one of grit and reinvention. Since his career-threatening arm injury in 2020, the 32-year-old endured multiple operations and inconsistent seasons with Honda. His bold decision in 2023 to leave Honda and join Gresini Racing Ducati — piloting a year-old Desmosedici — proved decisive, reigniting his competitive spark.
Throughout the 2025 season, Márquez combined speed with maturity, consistently scoring podiums and strategic finishes. His ability to adapt to Ducati’s machinery and dominate under pressure cemented his status as one of MotoGP’s all-time greats.
Historic Milestone
With this victory, Márquez equals Valentino Rossi’s seven premier-class titles, placing him second only to Giacomo Agostini in the record books. It also marks Ducati’s continued dominance in the modern MotoGP era, as the Italian manufacturer secures yet another constructors’ championship.
“Marc’s comeback has been inspirational for everyone in the paddock,” said Ducati team principal Davide Tardozzi. “He proved that true champions never fade — they just wait for the right machine.”
What Comes Next
With the championship already secured, Márquez can now focus on further refining his race craft and chasing additional wins in the remaining rounds. His resurgence has reignited fan interest and redefined the competitive landscape of MotoGP.
As the season winds down, one thing is clear: Marc Márquez is not just back — he’s better than ever, and his seventh title may only be the beginning of another golden chapter in his legendary career.
