Team India dominated the proceedings on Day 2 of the 1st Test against West Indies. India, who resumed Day 2 on a score of 121/2, ended the day having scored 448/5. They lead West Indies by 286 runs. Day 2 of the Test being held in Ahmedabad saw three centurions from the Indian team.
KL Rahul scored a neat 100 before the likes of Dhruv Jurel (125) and Ravindra Jadeja (104*) joined the party. Barring the three batters, overnight batter Shubman Gill ended up scoring 50. In what was a fine day of batting on a surface that had little help for bowlers, India made merry. They had earlier floored West Indies out for 162 on Day 1.

KL Rahul hammers his 11th hundred in Tests; 10th as an opener
Rahul resumed Day 2 on a score of an unbeaten 53. He managed to add another 47 runs to his tally. He ended up scoring 100 runs from 197 balls with the help of 12 fours. Jomel Warrican picked his wicket.
In 64 Test matches (112 innings), Rahul has gotten to 3889 runs at an average of 36. This was his 11th Test century. He also owns 19 fifties. Rahul notched up his 2nd Test hundred versus West Indies (50s: 1). He has 474 runs versus WI at 47.40.
Out of his 11 Test tons, this was Rahul’s 2nd at home. He has 1249 runs at home from 21 matches (33 innings) at 41-plus. Apart from 2 tons, he has 10 fifties at home.
This was Rahul’s 10th Test hundred as an opener. He is now 65 runs shy of 3500 as an opener.
Maiden century for Jurel in his 9th Test inning
Jurel walked out with purpose when India were 218/4 at one stage. Thereafter, he was part of a 206-run stand alongside Jadeja for the 5th wicket. Jurel ended up getting 125 runs from 210 balls, hitting 15 fours and three sixes.
This was the wicketkeeper batter’s maiden Test ton and overall a 2nd fifty-plus score from 6 matches (9 innings). He averages 47.50 in Tests.
Centurion Jadeja scales Dhoni in terms of sixes
Veteran all-rounder Jadeja played another substantial knock for India. After shining in the series against England, Jadeja hammered 104* off 176 balls. He smashed six fours and 5 sixes.
This was his 6th century in Tests (50s: 27). He is 10 shy of 4000 Test runs. Versus West Indies, Jadeja has 399 runs from 10 innings. He hammered his 4th fifty-plus score against the Windies (100s: 2).
Notably, playing his 50th Test at home, Jadeja has hit his 4th century (50s: 13) from 69 innings.
As mentioned, Jadeja hit 5 sixes. As per ESPNcricinfo, he surpassed MS Dhoni in terms of sixes for India in Tests. Dhoni hit 78 sixes in his Test career. Jadeja has raced to 80 sixes. Rishabh Pant, Virender Sehwag and Rohit Sharma are ahead of Jadeja at the moment.
