Bhubaneswar :Carlos Alcaraz battled through concerns over a left ankle injury to clinch a confident 6-4, 6-3 victory against Belgium’s Zizou Bergs at the Japan Open 2025. The world No. 1 had injured the ankle two days earlier in his opening match but showed no visible discomfort during the match in Tokyo, breaking his opponent five times in their first-ever meeting.Reflecting on his recovery, Alcaraz praised his physiotherapist, saying, “I have the best physio in the world, who I trust 100%. The work he has done for the ankle has been great. I could play normally.” Despite briefly feeling the ankle at times, Alcaraz delivered a strong performance and now faces American Brandon Nakashima in the quarter-finals.This win highlights Alcaraz’s resilience and determination as he continues his campaign with aims of securing more titles following his recent US Open triumph .
