The International Cricket Council (ICC) men’s player rankings have undergone notable shifts this week, with India’s Rohit Sharma moving up to second place in the ODI batters’ list, overtaking Pakistan’s Babar Azam.
Babar endured a disappointing run in the ODI series against the West Indies, managing just 56 runs across three innings. His best was a patient 47 in the opener, followed by two low scores against Jayden Seales’ sharp seam bowling. This slump has cost him the No. 2 spot, while Rohit now sits on 756 points. Shubman Gill retains the top position with 784 points.
Bowlers and All-Rounders on the Move
Among bowlers, Shaheen Afridi dropped to 13th despite a four-wicket haul in the first ODI. West Indies pacer Seales made the biggest jump, climbing 24 places to 12th, while spinner Gudakesh Motie rose to 33rd.
Big Gains in T20I Rankings
In T20Is, Australia’s Tim David broke into the top ten after his performances against South Africa. Dewald Brevis was the standout mover, leaping 80 places to 21st after his rapid century in the second T20I. India’s Tilak Varma has closed in on top-ranked Abhishek Sharma, moving into second place.
Pathum Nissanka’s consistent run against India pushed him to eighth in ODIs, while Sri Lanka’s Dunith Wellalage impressed with bat and ball, climbing 17 places among bowlers after his 5 for 27 in the final ODI.
