London : India’s table tennis scene received a major boost as both the men’s and women’s national teams secured their qualification for the prestigious 2026 World Team Table Tennis Championships (WTTC) scheduled to be held in London. Demonstrating exceptional skill and teamwork, both squads went undefeated in the South Asia Regional qualifiers, a crucial step that earned them one of the coveted Asian quota spots for this landmark centenary edition of the WTTC.

The road to qualification was marked by dominant performances in a five-nation round-robin format. The Indian teams clinched 3-0 wins against prominent regional competitors, including Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, reaffirming their status as leading forces in South Asian table tennis.

This achievement signifies not only the growing strength and depth of Indian table tennis on the world stage but also sets the stage for the teams to compete among the global elite in London in 2026. Securing direct qualification from the South Asia region underscores the rigorous preparation and consistent excellence displayed by India’s players.

With the 2026 WTTC marking the centenary edition of the championships, Indian fans and stakeholders eagerly anticipate strong showings from the teams, hoping for historic success that could further elevate the sport’s profile across the country.

The qualification is expected to inspire upcoming players and bring increased attention to table tennis, encouraging broader participation and support at all levels in India.

This advancement thus represents a significant milestone in Indian table tennis, reflecting the dedication of the players, coaches, and the national federation in cultivating competitive squads that can shine on the world stage.
