Bhubaneswar : Divit Reddy and Sri Samanvith claimed top honours at the 230th Brilliant Trophy chess tournament, which took place at Brilliant Grammar High School, Dilsukhnagar on Sunday.
In a competitive Open category, Divit Reddy secured first place after a close tie-break finish with Ritesh Maddukuri. Both players scored 5.5 points from six rounds, but Divit edged ahead in the tie-break. Ritesh took the runner-up position, while R.V.S.S. Ramanjaneyulu finished third.
The junior category saw a perfect run from Sri Samanvith of Johnson Grammar School (Mallapur), who dominated with a flawless 6 out of 6 points. Velvendhan finished in second with 5.5 points, and Snithik Vengala secured third with five points.
Final placings for the Open category included competitive performances from Krishna Kalyan, Viswa Alakanti, and Shreyan Thipparthi, filling the top spots.
The tournament was marked by strong participation, close contests, and standout performances by young chess talents from Hyderabad.
