Bhubaneswar, India- Bhubaneswar is abuzz with anticipation as Odisha prepares to host its first-ever World Athletics Continental Tour (Bronze Level) on August 10, 2025, at the Kalinga Stadium. This landmark event is set to welcome over 150 athletes from more than 10 nations, marking a significant moment for the state’s sporting landscape.
A Proud Moment for Odisha
Odisha’s Sports Minister, Shri Suryabanshi Suraj, expressed immense pride at the press conference held on July 11, 2025. “This is a proud moment for Odisha,” he stated. “Hosting the World Athletics Continental Tour for the first time in our state reflects our commitment to sporting excellence. We are taking all necessary steps to ensure the event’s smooth and successful conduct—from world-class infrastructure to hospitality.”
The Minister highlighted Odisha’s growing reputation as a hub for international sporting events, noting the achievements of local athletes on the global stage. He conveyed confidence in their ability to deliver outstanding performances during the upcoming tournament.
International Participation and Events
The prestigious competition will see a diverse contingent of athletes from countries including India, Turkmenistan, Bhutan, Philippines, South Korea, Malaysia, Iraq, Vietnam, Republic of Cameroon, Sri Lanka, Iran, and the Maldives. A total of 20 athletic events are scheduled to take place, promising a thrilling day of world-class competition.

Shri Sandeep Mehta, Secretary General of the Athletics Federation of India, affirmed the significance of the event. “We are proud to host the World Athletics Continental Tour (Bronze Level) in India,” he remarked. “With world-class athletes competing, this promises to be a spectacular event and Odisha provides the perfect setting for its successful conduct.”
