Bhubaneswar : The 2025 Wanda Diamond League Final at Zurich’s iconic Letzigrund Stadium delivered a spectacular display of athletic brilliance, headlined by unforgettable performances from Julian Weber, Femke Bol, Karsten Warholm, and Valarie Allman.
German javelin star Julian Weber was the standout athlete of the day, dominating the men’s javelin throw with a sensational personal best and world-leading mark of 91.51 meters. His powerful throws set a new standard and secured him the Diamond League title convincingly. Weber’s dominance was clear from the outset, including a thunderous opening throw of 91.37m, which was followed by more impressive attempts that left rivals trailing. Indian javelin icon Neeraj Chopra, despite a shaky start with fouls, rallied impressively with an 85.01m throw in the final round to earn a well-fought second place, showcasing his resilience and competitiveness on the world stage.
In the hurdles arena, Dutch sensation Femke Bol continued to cement her legacy by claiming her fifth consecutive Diamond League 400m hurdles title in a stunning meeting record time of 52.18 seconds. Meanwhile, Norway’s Karsten Warholm lit up the men’s 400m hurdles, clocking a meeting record 46.70 seconds to reinforce his status as a reigning champion and world-class performer.
Other standout moments included Valarie Allman successfully defending her women’s discus throw title with a winning throw of 69.18 meters. The event was also notable for record-breaking performances in multiple disciplines and the crowning of 26 Diamond League champions across the board.
Sprinters also thrilled the crowds, with American Christian Coleman winning his third Diamond League 100m title in a razor-thin finish, clocking 9.97 seconds to edge out South Africa’s Akani Simbine and Jamaica’s Ackeem Blake.
