Siraj, Deepika Clinch Titles at Telangana Open Squash Championship

The Telangana Open Squash Championship concluded on a high note at the Secunderabad Club, where Siraj Chand and Deepika emerged as the standout performers in the men’s and women’s singles categories.Siraj Chand delivered a commanding performance in the men’s final, overwhelming Aryan Pratap Singh in straight games. He won 11-3, 11-1, 11-6, demonstrating exceptional control, quick reflexes, and precise shot placement that left Aryan with few opportunities to counterattack. Siraj’s aggressive approach in the first two games set the tone, and he closed out the match with consistent drives and deft drops. The women’s singles final was a much closer affair, featuring a gripping five-game battle between Deepika and Reeva Nimbalkar. After dropping the opening game 8-11, Deepika rallied with steady, tactical play to claim the next two games 11-6 and 11-8. Reeva fought back to level the match in the fourth, winning it 11-9, but Deepika produced her best squash when it mattered most. She dominated the decider 11-4, sealing the title with sharp volleys and relentless pressure.

Alongside the main events, the championship showcased promising young talent in multiple junior categories. Among the winners were Gaurvi Ajmera in the mixed under-9 section, Nirvaan Parikh in boys under-11, Sameeksha Sugumar in girls under-11, and Kiaan Kulkarni in boys under-13. Isha Shelke triumphed in girls under-13, while Dhruv Boppana and Arnaa Dwivedi took the boys and girls under-15 crowns, respectively. The under-17 titles went to Varun Shah and Sehar Nayar, and in under-19, Ayush Verma and Ananya Narayanan emerged victorious.

The event also featured masters categories, highlighting the sport’s popularity across age groups. Sandeep Jhangra won the men’s 35+ division, Murukesh Mani secured the 40+ title, and Saurabh Nayar triumphed in 45+. Varinder Singh prevailed in 50+, while Ravikrishna Birla captured the men’s 65+ crown. The Telangana Open has steadily grown into a prestigious fixture on the squash calendar, attracting top talent while nurturing emerging players. This year’s competition reinforced the state’s commitment to fostering excellence in the sport. With the strong performances from Siraj, Deepika, and a host of rising stars, Telangana squash continues to build a promising legacy.
