Norwegian hurdling star Karsten Warholm lit up the Diamond League meet in Oslo on Thursday with a stunning performance in the newly recognized 300m hurdles event.
Warholm clocked an incredible 32.67 seconds, smashing his own previous best of 33.05 set earlier this season in Xiamen, China. As he powered down the final straight, he surged ahead to claim the win, roaring in celebration, tearing off his singlet, and thumping his chest as his time flashed across the big screen.
The 300m hurdles only gained official recognition this year, so while Warholm’s time is the fastest ever recorded, it’s not yet considered a ratified world record.
A world-class field joined him in the race, including American Olympic champion Rai Benjamin and Brazil’s Alison dos Santos. All three athletes are among the fastest ever in the 400m hurdles, holding the top three times in history. Between them, they’ve dominated the event in recent years, sweeping the podium at both the 2020 and 2024 Olympics.
