Bhubaneswar : In a remarkable breakthrough for Indian squash, the India boys’ team secured a bronze medal at the 2025 World Junior Squash Team Championships held in New Cairo, Egypt. This bronze is a landmark achievement, marking India’s first boys’ team medal at the event after a gap of 13 years.
The Indian squad demonstrated grit and determination throughout the tournament, culminating in a decisive quarterfinal victory over South Korea — the very team that had thwarted India’s medal chances in the previous edition. Although India fell 0-2 to the strong United States team in the semifinals, their place on the podium was already assured.
This podium finish underscores the steady rise of Indian squash on the world stage and is a testament to the skill and hard work of the young players. Alongside the boys’ team success, the Indian girls’ team also performed admirably, securing a place within the top six after a win over Canada in the playoffs.
The 2025 championship performance brings fresh optimism for India’s future in squash, inspiring young athletes nationwide and reinforcing India’s growing stature in international squash competitions.
