Anisimova Wins Tennis Clash Against Raducanu at Canadian Open

PC - Daily Express

The 23 years old – Amanda Anisimova continued her impressive performance from the grass season into the American summer hard-court swing by defeating Great Britain’s Emma Raducanu in straight sets, to reach to the fourth round of the Omnium Banque National in Montreal. Emma had won back in both of their earlier encounters but rarely appeared to be on track to continue that streak, managing to hold her serve only a single time throughout both sets.

Anisimova, who reached the Wimbledon final in July, came back from a 40-15 disadvantage to break Raducanu’s serve in the match’s second game, and although the British No. 1 quickly broke back, she couldn’t create another break point for the rest of the match. She broke to serve again to take a 3-1 lead and secured a third break to conclude the first set. Her strong performance persisted in the second set as Raducanu managed to win only eight points while serving, managing to avoid a total shutout after losing the initial five games.

Amanda, who is presently ranked 7th globally, has achieved 14 victories in her last 17 matches since the grass court season began, and her win marked the 29th consecutive match she has won after clinching the first set.

The American girl on achieving her 50th win at WTA 1000 level, she becomes just the ninth American to attain this milestone since the format began 16 years ago. She secured the first set, marking her 29th straight victory after winning the opener at WTA level.

Meanwhile Raducanu is set to travel down south to participate in another WTA 1000 event in Cincinnati.
