Bhubaneswar : At the WTT Contender Buenos Aires 2025, Indian table tennis player Ayhika Mukherjee bowed out of the women’s singles quarterfinals after a competitive 3-1 loss to Hong Kong’s Su Tsz Tung. Despite the defeat, Mukherjee’s campaign was marked by impressive resilience, including a thrilling comeback against World No. 18 Takahashi in the first round and a solid victory over Brazil’s Karina Shiray in the round of 16.
Her exit was part of an emotionally mixed day for the Indian contingent, as the men’s doubles pair Payas Jain and Ankur Bhattacharjee stormed into the finals, continuing to keep India’s hopes alive in the tournament. The duo notably upset the third-seeded home team in a 22-minute semifinal match.
