London : Jasprit Bumrah delivered a brilliant bowling performance on day two of the third Test at Lord’s, claiming five crucial wickets to put India in a commanding position against England.
Bumrah’s spell broke the backbone of the English batting lineup. He dismissed Joe Root for a well-made 104, ending the England captain’s resistance. Earlier, Bumrah had sent Harry Brook back for 11, and then struck again to remove Ben Stokes for 44, just as the England skipper looked set. Bumrah’s relentless accuracy paid off further when he dismissed Chris Woakes for a duck, and later cleaned up Jofra Archer for 4.
England finished their first innings at 387 after 112.3 overs, with Bumrah’s five wickets being the highlight for India. His ability to take wickets at crucial moments halted England’s momentum, especially after strong contributions from Root and lower-order batsmen Jamie Smith (51*) and Brydon Carse (56*).Bumrah’s five-wicket haul at the iconic Lord’s ground is another milestone in his impressive Test career, underlining his status as one of the world’s premier fast bowlers.
