In a truly remarkable display of skill and determination, India dominated the second Asian Squash Doubles Championships on Thursday, sweeping all three titles: men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles!1

Men’s Doubles Triumph

The top-seeded men’s duo of Abhay Singh and Velavan Senthilkumar showed incredible resilience. After dropping the first set, they staged a fantastic comeback to defeat their Pakistani rivals, Noor Zaman and Nasir Iqbal, with a final score of 2-1 (9-11, 11-5, 11-5) in an intense 88-minute final.2 Their journey to the final included a strong semifinal win against Hong Kong’s Chi Him Wong and Ming Hong Tang.

Women’s Doubles Victory

Not to be outdone, the second-seeded women’s pair of Joshna Chinappa and Anahat Singh also proved their mettle.3 They, too, rallied from a set down to claim a thrilling 2-1 victory (8-11, 11-9, 11-10) over Malaysia’s Ainaa Amani and Xin Ying Yee in a 35-minute showdown.4 Joshna and Anahat secured their spot in the final by overcoming Hong Kong’s Po Yui Kirstie Wong and Yee Lam Toby Tse.

Mixed Doubles and a Clean Sweep!

Sealing India’s complete dominance, the top-seeded mixed doubles pair of Abhay Singh and Anahat Singh delivered a commanding performance.5 They defeated Malaysia’s Rachel Arnold and Ameeshenraj Chandaran 2-0 (11-9, 11-7) in a swift 28-minute final, securing India’s clean sweep of all titles.6 This marked Abhay and Anahat’s second title of the championships, a testament to their exceptional teamwork and individual talent. Their path to the final included a win against another local Malaysian pair, Ainaa Amani and Syafiq Kamal, in the semifinals.
