Jannik Sinner has confirmed that Darren Cahill will leave his coaching team, with former world No. 2 Magnus Norman set to take up the role next month.

Cahill’s departure brings an end to a successful partnership during which the Italian won five Grand Slam titles and reached the world No. 1 ranking. Norman, a former coach of three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka, will work alongside Simone Vagnozzi.

Sinner Pays Tribute To Cahill

Cahill joined Sinner’s team in June 2022 and had initially planned to step away after the 2025 season.

“Darren has been an incredibly important part of my journey. Together with Simone and the whole team, we have achieved things I dreamed of growing up,” Sinner said in a statement.

Sinner also credited Cahill for his honesty and dedication, adding that their achievements and the relationship they built would remain special to him.

Cahill, meanwhile, thanked Sinner and the rest of the team for welcoming him into what he described as a wonderful Italian family.

“Working with Jannik has been a special honor and privilege. He’s an amazing young man and a humble dedicated champion that we are all incredibly proud of,” Cahill wrote.

Norman Set For New Coaching Role

Norman reached No. 2 in the world during his playing career and later coached Wawrinka to three Grand Slam titles.

The Swede is expected to begin working with Sinner next month, joining Vagnozzi as the Italian prepares for the next stage of his career.

Sinner has not played since beating Alexander Zverev in the Wimbledon final in July. He subsequently withdrew from the US Open because of a right knee injury and announced last month that his season was over.

Zverev has since taken over the world No. 1 ranking.
