2026 Singapore Grand Prix: Verstappen Ends Marina Bay Drought With Commanding Victory
Max Verstappen converts pole position into his first Singapore Grand Prix win, finishing 7.3 seconds ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc as Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli strengthens his championship position with third place.
2026 Singapore Grand Prix: Max Verstappen Claims First Marina Bay Win
Max Verstappen finally conquered the Marina Bay Street Circuit, winning the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix for Red Bull Racing on Sunday, October 11. Starting from pole position, the Dutchman controlled the race to finish 7.335 seconds ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, while Mercedes teenager Kimi Antonelli completed the podium, 24.573 seconds behind the winner.
The victory carried extra significance as Verstappen secured his first Formula 1 Grand Prix triumph in Singapore on his 250th Grand Prix start. It also completed a perfect Singapore weekend, with the Red Bull driver winning Saturday’s Sprint and then converting pole into Grand Prix victory. After the opening exchanges, Verstappen built a comfortable advantage and maintained control through the pit-stop phase, despite communication issues over team radio.
Singapore GP 2026 Results: Leclerc Second, Antonelli Third
Leclerc was Verstappen’s closest challenger for much of the race but could not match the Red Bull’s pace over the full distance. The Ferrari driver secured second place, while Antonelli’s third-place finish added another valuable result to his championship campaign.
Behind the podium, McLaren’s Lando Norris finished fourth, followed by teammate Oscar Piastri in fifth. Lewis Hamilton took sixth for Ferrari, leaving the team with one podium and two cars inside the top six. Liam Lawson finished seventh for Racing Bulls, with Audi’s Nico Hülkenberg eighth. George Russell recovered to ninth for Mercedes, while Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar completed the top 10 after starting from the pit lane.

Red Bull Controls the Race as Ferrari Misses Out on Victory
Verstappen’s performance showed how effectively Red Bull managed the demands of the Marina Bay circuit. After defending his lead against Leclerc at the opening corner, he gradually opened the gap. The pit-stop phase did little to disrupt his advantage, and a smooth switch from soft to medium tyres helped him maintain control in the second half of the race.
Ferrari had opportunities to challenge, but Leclerc ultimately had to settle for second. Hamilton’s sixth-place finish meant the team did not convert its pace into a double podium. For Red Bull, however, the result delivered a landmark win at a circuit where Verstappen had not previously claimed a Grand Prix victory.
Kimi Antonelli’s Third Place Adds Pressure in the F1 Championship
Antonelli’s podium was another important outcome in the wider Formula 1 2026 title battle. The Mercedes driver finished ahead of teammate Russell, who crossed the line in ninth after starting further down the order because of grid penalties. Antonelli’s result helped extend his championship advantage over Russell.
McLaren also left Singapore with mixed fortunes. Norris and Piastri both finished inside the top five, collecting useful points, although neither could threaten Verstappen or Leclerc for a podium position. Lawson’s seventh place and Hülkenberg’s eighth added strong midfield results for Racing Bulls and Audi.
Singapore Grand Prix Race Results and Retirements
The Marina Bay race ended with three drivers classified as retirements: Lance Stroll of Aston Martin, Franco Colapinto of Alpine and Gabriel Bortoleto of Audi. Sergio Perez finished 17th for Cadillac, two laps behind Verstappen, while Alex Albon and Valtteri Bottas were classified 18th and 19th respectively.
For Verstappen, the result was more than another race win. It was a breakthrough at one of Formula 1’s most demanding street circuits, achieved on a milestone 250th Grand Prix start. With a Sprint victory, pole position and the Grand Prix win, the Dutchman left Singapore having delivered one of the weekend’s most complete performances.
The 2026 Singapore Grand Prix therefore produced a landmark result for Red Bull, a podium for Ferrari and Mercedes, and another valuable championship finish for Antonelli as the Formula 1 season moves towards its closing stages.
