The Isharani Baruah Vietnam Open 2026 campaign reached a major milestone on Saturday as the Indian shuttler defeated compatriot Rakshitha Sree Santosh Ramraj 21-10, 21-18 in the women’s singles semifinal.
The third-seeded Isharani controlled the contest for much of the 39-minute match and secured a straight-game victory to book her place in the final of the YONEX SUNRISE Vietnam Open in Ho Chi Minh City.
The victory also ensured that India would have a representative in the women’s singles final, with Isharani progressing from an all-Indian semifinal.

Isharani made a confident start against Rakshitha and quickly established control in the opening game. She eventually took it 21-10, putting herself in a strong position to close out the match.
Rakshitha tried to respond in the second game, but Isharani maintained her composure and prevented the contest from going into a decider. She won the second game 21-18 to complete the victory in 39 minutes.
The result continued Isharani’s strong run through the tournament. She had earlier defeated Malaysia’s Goh Jin Wei in the round of 16 before overcoming Chinese Taipei’s Huang Ching Ping 21-15, 21-18 in the quarter-final.

Isharani’s final opponent will be Thailand’s Sarunrak Vitidsarn, who defeated India’s top seed Tanvi Sharma in the other semifinal.
Sarunrak edged Tanvi 21-19, 22-20 in a closely fought contest, ending Tanvi’s run in the tournament and setting up the final against Isharani.
The final will therefore give Isharani an opportunity to claim the Vietnam Open title after making her way through a challenging Indian-heavy section of the women’s singles draw.

India’s campaign in the singles events also featured Tanvi Sharma and H.S. Prannoy, who both reached the semifinals before their respective runs came to an end.
Tanvi, the tournament’s top seed, was beaten by Sarunrak 21-19, 22-20. Despite the defeat, her run to the last four underlined her strong position in the women’s singles draw.
In the men’s singles, third seed H.S. Prannoy lost to Singapore’s top seed Jia Heng Teh 13-21, 8-21. Teh advanced to the final four with the straight-game victory.
