India Win Six Medals In World Archery Para Series
India signed off their World Archery Para Series Stage III campaign on a high, winning two gold and four bronze medals on the final day in Ahmedabad. World No. 1 Sheetal Devi and Paralympics champion Harvinder Singh led India’s impressive performance.
Sheetal Devi Wins Para Compound Gold
Sheetal Devi held her nerve in a dramatic shoot-off to win the para compound women’s individual gold. The reigning world champion was locked at 144-144 with Kazakhstan’s Aizada Seidan after five ends.
Both archers started strongly, with the scores level at 59 after two ends. Aizada moved ahead by one point in the third end, but Sheetal fought back to force a shoot-off.
Sheetal then produced a perfect 10 while Aizada managed a nine, handing the Indian archer the gold medal.
The victory completed a medal double for Sheetal, who had earlier teamed up with Toman Kumar to win bronze in the compound mixed team event.
Harvinder Singh Guides India To Gold
Harvinder Singh and Bhawna produced a dominant display in the para recurve mixed team final, defeating China’s Liang Qiurong and Xia Lei 6-0.
India won the opening set 35-31 before taking the second 36-33. They completed the clean sweep with a 34-32 victory in the third set to claim another World Archery Para Series gold.
India Add Four Bronze Medals
India also secured four bronze medals on the final day.
Bhawna defeated compatriot Rajshree Rathod 6-0 in the para recurve women’s bronze-medal playoff.
Sheetal and Toman Kumar won bronze in the compound mixed team event, defeating Iraq’s Sara Al Hamid and Abbas Kadim 157-145.
Sarita added another bronze in the para compound women’s individual event, edging China’s Wang Huiting 141-140.
Toman completed India’s medal haul by defeating Iraq’s Abbas Kadhim 143-138 in the para compound men’s individual event, securing his second medal of the competition.
India’s two gold and four bronze medals on the final day ensured a strong finish to their World Archery Para Series Stage III campaign.
